One American scholar will be selected for the Fulbright-Schuman Postdoctoral Award at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, during the 2025-2026 academic year.

The scholar will teach one or two courses at the undergraduate or graduate level - four to six hours per week. The main style of teaching will be based on lectures and seminars. The average class size is approximately 80-120 students.

The overall workload of the Fulbright Scholar will consist of 48 hours of teaching, split between two modules:
i) 24 hours (3 hours per week) teaching to both undergrad and master students (up to 40 students);
ii) 24 hours lectures to Ph.D. students (up to 20 students).

The activity entails 80% teaching and 20% research.
The Fulbright Scholar is expected to teach:
- 1 undergraduate course, for approximately 42 hours (6 hours a week), to classes of 10-30 students
- 2-3 seminars for doctoral students for a total of 6-8 hours to classes of 5-10 students.

The Fulbright scholar is expected to teach 2 courses. The scholar will also be able to conduct his/her research and engage in collaborative research as well.

The Fulbright Scholar will be asked to teach the “Italian-American Culture and Literature” course which is offered at the master's level. The syllabus must be agreed on with the university, with reading materials provided via pdf. Students will have to write a 10-page paper on a topic agreed upon with the instructor.

Fulbright Scholars can either teach, or teach and conduct research, in the area of specialization.
Teaching: in agreement with their host institutions, Scholars should expect to teach two courses, and provide lectures, seminars, or workshops.

Conduct policy-oriented research that addresses topics of common importance for the US-EU relationship and/or EU affairs and that is tenable in one, two, or three EU Member States.
