This is primarily a research grant. The recipient of this award will conduct research related to evolving Arctic security/northern security and geopolitical concerns. This research will be undertaken in Iceland and one other Nordic country, with the goal of contributing substantively to the debate on Arctic security, broadly defined, to ensure a stable and sustainable Arctic region.

AIM AND FOCUS
The Fulbright Distinguished Scholar is co-hosted by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) and the Law Faculty at Lund University (LU). The aim is to promote collaboration between human rights scholars in the United States and Sweden.

Teach one introductory course for undergraduates, as well as a more specialized course for senior or graduate students (or both) in the grantee's area of expertise. The Distinguished Scholar will also give an inaugural lecture during the year. Opportunities to give lectures at other Swedish universities and outside Sweden will be available and are encouraged.

Teach and/or research in the proposed area of interest. The ratio of teaching vs. research and the number of courses to be taught (if any) is to be arranged between the scholar and the host institution and stated in the letter of invitation.

Conduct policy-oriented research that addresses topics of common importance for the US-EU relationship and/or EU affairs and that is tenable in one, two, or three EU Member States.
